Plaistow New Hampshire Real Estate Tour

PLAISTOW NEW HAMPSHIRE REAL ESTATE - COMMUNITY TOUR

Plaistow, New Hampshire is situated in the Southeast corner of New Hampshire. Like many New Hampshire towns, Plaistow's woods, ponds and lakes attract a mutitude of vacationers during the summer months. Centrally located near the the rocky shores of the Atlantic Ocean, the scenic expanse of the Lakes Region, the snowy peaks of the White Mountains and the bustling suburbs of the Greater Boston region, Plaistow offers a thriving local business climate and a multitude of opportunities for recreation and leisure.

First established after a boundary dispute between the Massachusetts Bay Colony and the New Hampshire Grants in 1746, Plaistow remained largely agriculture in nature until the mid-20th century, when the expansion of the highways and the post-war housing boom brought hundreds of thousand of new residents to southern New Hampshire. Today, Plaistown's residential and economic growth continues unabated.

The town of Plaistow, which shares a border with Haverhill, is home to over 7,000 civic-minded, year-round residents who were pleased when President George Bush recognized its Timberlane Regional Junior High for excellence, and who hold an annual Old Home Days celebration. Recently, Plaistow became more attractive to commuters to the Boston area by adding, along with Kingston and Epping, stops for a commuter bus service to Boston.

Laconia New Hampshire Real Estate Tour

LACONIA NEW HAMPSHIRE REAL ESTATE - VIRTUAL COMMUNITY TOUR

Laconia, New Hampshire is situated at the heart of New Hampshire's scenic Lakes Region. A growing community, Laconia offers excellent recreation opportunities, a thriving local business climate, and a convenient location near the snowy peaks of the White Mountains, the rocky shores of the state's Atlantic Ocean Coast, and the cities of Manchester, Concord, Nashua and Boston.

The land that now comprises Laconia was originally inhabited by Abenaki Indians, who established the village of Aquedoctan at what is now Weirs Beach some 10,000 years ago. At the height of central New Hampshire's Algonquian period, the village of Aquedoctan was the largest settlement in the Northeast. Fishing was the central economic activity in Aquedoctan, facilitated by maple-wood baskets, called "weirs", that the Winnipesaukee tribesmen developed to capture the abundant shad during their late-summer migration. The contempory village of Weirs Beach in Laconia takes its name from the Indian fishing device. First explored by Europeans in the 1620's, Laconia was originally a part of Meredith and Gilford, when it was known as Meredith Bridge.

When it was incorporated in 1893, the city was named for the Laconia Adventurers, a group of early explorers who passed through the region en route to the great lakes and rivers of Canada foretold by ancient Indian lore. By the late 19th century, Laconia had emerged as a popular summer resort, with residents traveling from Boston and New York City to escape the summer heat. Weirs Beach, the largest public beach on Winnipesaukee and the terminus of the cruise ship Mount Washington, remains a popular destination, with several vendors, arcades and carnival attractions setting up shop along the boulevard each summer. Constructed in 1925, the historic pier at Weirs Beach was a hot spot for local swing bands in the interwar years of the early 20th century.

Today, Laconia offers boundless opportunity for recreation, sightseeing, entertainment and leisure. Lake Winnipesaukee is nationally known for its annual Ice-Out Contest, in which people try to guess the earliest date that the Mount Washington can safely leave her port in Center Harbor and motor to four other ports (Weirs Beach, Alton Bay, Wolfeboro, and Meredith). Since records began in 1851, ice-out has happened as early as March 29 and as late as May 12, although 90 percent of the time it is declared in April.

Summer brings plentiful options for swimming at Lake Winnipesaukees nine public beaches, while other popular water sports include boating, waterskiing, canoeing, and fishing. Numerous hiking trails wind through the surrounding Ossipee and Belknap mountain ranges, and New Hampshire's majestic White Mountains are just a half hours drive north. Residents and vacationers alike enjoy excellent skiing at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, majestic vistas at Moultonborough's Castle in the Clouds, numerous shops and restaurants in Laconia, Meredith and Wolfeboro, and nearly a dozen golf courses throughout the region.

Praxis Plus - A Process for Success - Step 6

Your Process to Jump-Start 2009

PRAXIS PLUS - Step 6
Praxis - a habitual or established practice. It's a formal action for improving yourself that you perform on a consistent basis.

PictureIn Step 1, and Step 2, you worked on identifying and planning activities to accomplish within a time frame.  In Step 3, we discussed how your success will be determined by your ability to identify your target (your goals), focusing on the outcome you desire and taking action with a positive mental attitude.

In Step 4 we introduced planning and determining priorities as methods for increasing your power sources that will make you more effective in achieving your goals (hitting the target).  In Step 5, we explored proficiency, which will allow you to perform tasks quickly and leverage your time.

At this point in the process, you should see the benefits of focusing your time and energy on activities that are building your business. Traditionally, in most markets, the real estate market slows down during the holidays. And, due to the effects of our economy, we find ourselves in an extremely challenging market.

Understand that you can't control the market but you can control the outcome you desire.  There will be a substantial number of homes bought and sold within the next three months and the rest of the year.  It's a matter of taking market share so stay focused and don't let outside forces take you off course.

Time Saving Techniques

  1. Reduce stress in your life by planning ahead and being on time for meetings.
  2. Reduce the length of meetings, when you have control, by being prepared with the necessary documents, agenda, etc.
  3. Use your drive time to safely return phone calls (blue tooth), listen to motivational tapes and sales training audio.

Your Responsibilities

PictureSet your schedule for the next month and remember to focus on the buying side of the transaction.  Interest rates are nearing historic lows so you must be proficient in leveraging your time to connect with as many potential buyers as possible.

Next week we will begin scheduling our free webinars to assist you with scheduling, communication and database techniques.

Portsmouth New Hampshire Real Estate Virtual Tour

Portsmouth NH Real Estate

Portsmouth, New Hampshire is a historic city on the state's Atlantic Ocean coast. A popular summer tourist destination, Portsmouth offers a multitude of shops, restaurants, art galleries, cultural attractions, parks, beaches and historic sites for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike. Portsmouth is centrally located within an hour's drive of Boston, the state capital in Concord, the cities of Nashua and Manchester, the southern coast of Maine and the scenic Lakes Region. Additionally, the snowy peaks of the White Mountains and the idyllic fishing villages of Cape Cod are just a short drive away.

First explored in about 1603, Portsmouth was settled in 1630 as Piscataqua and soon renamed Strawberry Banke because of the abundant wild strawberries growing along the banks of the Piscataqua River. Portsmouth was incorporated under its present in 1653. Named the colonial capital in 1679, Portsmouth became a refuge for exiles from the Puritan Massachusetts Bay Colony. In 1713, the city was chosen to host the Treaty of Portsmouth, which formally ended hostilities between Eastern Abenaki Indians and European settlers in the New Hampshire and Massachusetts colonies. For more than 200 years, Portsmouth served as a major port of trade along the New England coast.

While Portsmouth's fortunes dimmed somewhat following the onslaught of the Industrial Revolution, when inland mill towns such as Dover, Keene, Laconia and Manchester rose to prominencee, the city enjoyed renewed prosperity with the establishment of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1800. The first federal shipyard in the United States, it remains in operation, though Portsmouth's maritime industry has largely given way to concerted growth in the tourist and service industries. Portsmouth prides itself on its many historical buildings and churches. Just minutes from six New Hampshire state beaches, it provides an excellent escape for residents on the hot summer days. Portsmouth also boasts many tasty restaurants, including some of the best sea food establishments in New England.

Students in Portsmouth enjoy an excellent public school system with an average student/teacher ration of 12:1, one of the best in the state. City schools provide an excellent education from preschool all the way through to high school. With many state colleges nearby, students don't have to go far to continue their education and local businesses don't have to look far to find employees with the skills they need.
